MGSE Innovation Funding Scheme – Now Open
Building on MGSE’s existing initiatives that aim to seed discovery and broaden collaboration, we are excited to announce MGSE’s new Innovation Funding Scheme (for projects up to $150k).
Applications will be assessed on a rolling basis, and open via SmartyGrants from 9am, Friday 24 June.
This scheme aims to provide an incubation pathway for innovative research outputs (including novel products, services, and innovations in courseware), particularly those that generate University-owned intellectual property with scalable potential to support further research translation, or secure other University or external funding (such as Proof of Concept or Genesis Funding Schemes).
Aligned with Advancing Melbourne 2030 and a suite of new University of Melbourne initiatives including Proof of Concept, Genesis, and Venture Funding, the scheme builds MGSE’s capacity to enable next generation research translation and expand our research impact, and responds to the following MGSE Strategic Plan 2022-2026: The Time Is Now Research Priorities:
- Broaden the reach of our expertise through the development of innovative tools
- Drive and deliver influential research translation
Awarded funds must be spent by 15 December 2022. Provision for 2023 funding may be proposed, however projects should aim to have deliverables that fall within 2022.
