1. Update on FoE Disability and Inclusive Seed Funding (Round 2)

Unfortunately this round will not be running at the present time. Apologies for researchers who were keen to apply. We anticipate opening the round later in the year for research commencement from January 2026.

2. Completion Information Seminar for GRs & Supervisors

3. The Viva Information Session for GRs & Supervisors

Date: 1 – 2pm, Thursday 18th September

This session, run by GR Coordinator A/Prof Vic Millar and ADGR A/Prof Peter Woelert, will cover the newly introduced Viva. Note that the Viva will only be a requirement for those doctoral candidates that enrolled after 1st January 2025. This session will cover:

How the Viva works alongside other completion requirements.

What the Viva involves.

Who is involved in the Viva.

4. Australian French Student Exchanges In the Pacific – closes 22 September

The Embassy of France to Australia is looking to support higher education and academic exchanges in the Pacific. The purpose of the present call is to contribute to the funding of exchange projects undertaken by Australia or French Pacific based academics and universities to strengthen links between Australia, New Caledonia, Wallis-and-Futuna, French Polynesia, and the Pacific. 

A total budget of $50,000 AUD is available through this call. A maximum of 3 projects should be funded under this amount.

5. On the Road to the COP31: Pacific Knowledge and Knowledge of the Pacific – closes 22 September

In preparation of the COP31, the Embassy of France to Australia is offering a grant to members of civil society organisations and/or to scientists to support preparatory consultation work for the COP31, with the aim of fostering exchanges and discussions, and delivering recommendations from the Pacific region. Projects can take the form of workshops and conferences, community awareness and public forums, reports and policy papers. Projects must involve and engage with organisations from at least one of the Pacific French territories (New Caledonia, Wallis-and-Futuna and French Polynesia). 

A total budget of $44,000 AUD is available through this call. A maximum of 3 projects should be funded under this amount.

6. Reel Impact Prize 2025 – closes 29 September

Show How Your Research Makes A Difference

Are you ready to take the next step to get your amazing research impact story to a wider audience? The University’s Reel Impact Prize 2025 is now open for submissions from all current Academic staff, with entries accepted from individual researchers or teams and must be received by 5pm on 29th September 2025. Up to three winning entries can each receive $8000 to collaborate with their choice of professional media storyteller.


To enter the competition researchers must submit either a 60-second engaging video or a visual storyboard highlighting their research and its benefits to address the challenges facing Australia and the world. Further prize information is available via the Researcher Development Unit or the Research Hub

7. YRC Seminar: Wellbeing on the ground: Insights from sports and education communities 30 September

This double seminar invites us to think about wellbeing “on the ground” – practices of wellbeing that emerge beyond explicit policies, interventions and programs.
