InSEA Excellence in Praxis award is presented to an individual art educator or a group. This award is presented in all six InSEA regions.

Excellence in Praxis award is given to those that:

  • Demonstrated how their praxis is aligned with the mission of InSEA to entitle all learners to access visual art education that deeply connects them to their world and to their cultural history that inspires knowledge, appreciation, and creation of new horizons that develop new ways of seeing, thinking, doing, and being
  • They all demonstrated a commitment to multicultural and cross-cultural educational curricula in their schools and communities,
  • and they all demonstrated leadership, implementing pedagogical approaches that build respect for human dignity and diversity through art, and fostering teamwork, collaboration, and communication among diverse constituencies in order to achieve greater understanding of the social and cultural aspects of art and visual culture in education.

InSEA Excellence in Praxis award to Dr. Kate Coleman for her outstanding contributions to art education includes pioneering digital research methods and leading the visual arts and design teaching program. Her work exemplifies the mission of InSEA, fostering creative expression and critical thinking through innovative art-based methodologies, while emphasizing inclusivity, pluri-culturalism, and social justice. Dr. Coleman’s extensive leadership, research, and mentoring across national and international projects have had a transformative impact on art education, preparing future educators for diverse and complex global contexts.

Congratulations to Professor John Hattie was part of an application led by ACU to be awarded an ARC Linkage grant, “Deadly Home Reading: Enabling Indigenous Children’s Literacy & Wellbeing”.
