Vacancy for a Research Integrity Advisor (RIA)
The University of Melbourne has an academic peer network of Research Integrity Advisors (RIAs) who provide advice about the responsible conduct of research and the University processes for managing concerns or complaints about research conduct. RIAs are available to provide advice to potential complainants and about the appropriate way forward, which may include referral to other University processes.
RIAs do not have an investigative or determinative role in dealing with these sorts of issues. There are other people at the University who carry this responsibility (for example, Heads of Departments, Associate Deans (Research), or Deans). RIAs cannot be involved in processes that follow on from any of their discussions with people seeking advice.
RIAs may also provide advice to their Faculties and OREI about the number and types of questions that they are receiving; this can help OREI to identify particular areas of concern and take appropriate steps.
