The Trust was established with a view to promote the appropriate innovative use of technologies in the following key areas:

  • Work education and training within Victoria
  • The use of new telematic means to deliver, market or sell projects for education and training
  • New information technologies in the area of ‘distance education’ which complements existing educational and training institutions

Funding is available for initiatives that demonstrate the innovative use of technology through education and training. The Trust funds innovative initiatives that reach diverse and disadvantaged groups. The Trust “aims to fund initiatives that demonstrate innovative use of technology through education and training which aim to measurably improve the well-being of the community and the environment. Projects should also use technology to reach diverse groups and address important practical problems in our community and the environment.”

Guidelines:

  • One-off grants of up to $50,000
  • Projects must be based in Victoria and be for the benefit of Victoria and Victorians. There may also be a broader benefit to Australians arising from the project or initiative
  • Projects must be education and/or training driven and market oriented
  • Have a significant commitment of support internally and from other external funders/support (in-kind or cash)
  • The Trust will also consider the projects reach and target beneficiaries (number of people and number of outcomes), the project potential to succeed (risk identification and mitigation, third party support) and the projects innovation and uniqueness
  • The Trust will not fund projects that are >50% infrastructural and/or equipment; recurring, permanent salaries, however the Trust will fund salaries for special purpose projects; projects that merely translate curriculum materials from one medium to another; core organisational costs; projects lacking innovation (innovation is defined as a new idea, device or method); the same project more than once.
