2025 ARC Grants Support and Dates

MERI is introducing a new Development initiative to support applications for 2025, comprising a two-step process:

  • Step 1: Offline review to clarify foundational aspects of the proposal
  • Step 2: Online mock panel sessions with senior research colleagues to provide critical, iterative reviews to refine proposals into competitive submissions.

Step 1 can be done at anytime by sending an initial outline to MERI via foe-research@unimelb.edu.au. Outlines need not be full developed, but should provide enough detail to assess whether foundational aspects of the proposals are clear enough to proceed to Step 2 for full review:

  • Has a researchable problem and its significance been clearly indentified?
  • Has an approach been identified that seems feasible and suited to the Research Questions?
  • Has a team been identified that brings sufficient track-record suited to the problem?

Step 2 mock panels will be scheduled on the last Friday afternoon of June, August, October, by invitation to those who have met Step 1 requirements.

In addition MERI will also offer monthly drop-in Studios for researchers with very early ideas to signal interest, and learn more about how MERI and RIC can support grant development. More information to come soon.

The new ARC Grants Calendar

The ARC has published a new and more informative National Competitive Grants Program NCGP Scheme Calendar 2024-25, PDF version: NCGP Scheme Calendar 2024-25.

Please note that ARC has stated that all dates are indicative and may be subject to change. MERI and RIC will schedule dates and communicate to researchers when the relevant scheme dates are confirmed by the ARC.

If you are interested in applying for any of theses ARC schemes, please reach out to MERI (foe-research@unimelb.edu.au) as soon as possible. We also highly recommend that all applicants fill out the university NOI (notice of intent) to stay up to date with relevant information on the specific scheme.
