Mid-Career Research Intensive Program (M-CRIP) – Applications now open

Applications are now open for the pilot of The University of Melbourne’s Mid-Career Research Intensive Program (M-CRIP).

This new University initiative aims to support and enable mid-career academic staff to prioritise research by alleviating responsibility for other academic activities for a concentrated and focused period of time. Objectives include building mid-career track records to enhance competitiveness in promotion or other developmental opportunities. This pilot program consolidates and builds on established and successful UoM ECR initiatives (McKenzie Fellowship, Melbourne Postdoctoral Fellowship, Early Career Researcher schemes) addressing a critical gap in support of research capability at the University.

Applicants for the pilot M-CRIP program must have an appointment that:
a) is at Level C.5 or C.6 at the University of Melbourne; and
b) is either continuing or fixed-term until at least 31 September 2023; and
c) is at 0.8 FTE or greater; and
d) hold a Teaching & Research position.

The pilot will be reviewed through evaluation and feedback—with specific regard to the activities supported and applicant eligibility—to ensure the progression of the program is equitable and effective.

Please visit here for full details including eligibility, guidelines, and the application form. This also includes guidance for those who do not yet hold an appointment to 31 September 2023, but have a reasonable expectation of doing so at the time of application.

Questions regarding the pilot program can be directed to the RDU Program Manager, Kerewin Huck, via email (kerewin.huck@unimelb.edu.au) or phone (03 8344 9674).
