Building research relationships with the University of Hokkaido

As highlighted in the previous edition of the newsletter, the Universities of Melbourne and Hokkaido jointly held a Virtual Conference on Healthy Ageing on Tuesday 08 March 2022. The conference celebrated Melbourne and Hokkaido’s long-standing collaborative relationships, showcased interdisciplinary perspectives on healthy ageing from both universities, and launched the new Hokkaido – Melbourne Joint Research Workshops Fund. New: Australia – Japan Foundation Grants
The Australia Japan Foundation Grants provide funding for projects that strengthen Australia–Japan relations, enhance Australia’s international reputation and promote cultural understanding. Grants are available ranging from $10,000 to $40,000 per year with key priority areas of:

  • Communication, information and advocacy
  • Economic diplomacy and geopolitics
  • Education and Australian studies
  • Scientific innovation
  • Society, culture and sport
